...IgFS provides information about the training program for classic car restoration specialists.

SWISS CLASSIC WORLD in Lucerne has become the annual meeting place for everyone who celebrates a passion for classic cars. The automotive witnesses of history, showcased in large numbers at this fair, have either undergone a restoration process or have been maintained and repaired over many years. However, the specialized knowledge required for this is becoming increasingly rare.

To preserve and pass on the expertise needed to maintain and operate classic vehicles, the industry joined forces back in 2011. A training alliance was formed between the Swiss Automotive Industry Association, Carrosserie Suisse, and IgFS, with the goal of establishing federally recognized, two-year, part-time training programs in vehicle technology. Since 2015, this has been used to actively support the next generation of specialists in the classic car sector.

At the fair, Rudolf Siegrist, honorary member of IgFS, and Tamara Meier, vehicle restorer and co-owner of a classic car workshop, will speak about this training program — on Friday from 3:20 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:50 a.m. (see the event program for details). In addition to showcasing an interesting classic vehicle, IgFS will also present project work by restoration students at booth 107 in Hall 1 — and looks forward to welcoming many visitors.
