75 years of the Bulli – just one of many anniversaries

On January 3, 1945, the "Neue AMAG" was founded in Zurich. Its first import agreement was signed with the British Standard Motor Company. One of the first 1,000 Standard cars, now on display in Lucerne, commemorates this milestone. Five years later, 75 years ago, the first VW buses hit the roads in Switzerland. Over the course of seven generations, the bus evolved into a complete product family for both businesses and families. Several representatives of this iconic vehicle can be seen in Lucerne.

The VW Polo was introduced in 1975. Developed in collaboration with the Audi 50, it was VW’s first compact car. One model stands out in its 50-year history: the 1992 Polo "Genesis." With its paint design created in partnership with the British rock band, it became — and remains — a cult classic. And 40 years ago, VW NF launched the first all-wheel-drive version, the "Syncro." While VW buses had always performed well on rough roads, the Syncro set new standards and became a favorite among customers in Switzerland.

Praised by designers and engineers for its extravagance and sophistication, the Audi A2, introduced in 2000, quickly found its way into the Museum of Modern Art. However, its innovative aluminum construction, space-efficient design, and fuel consumption of just 3 liters per 100 km didn’t immediately win over customers' hearts. Clearly, it was ahead of its time. The experts from AMAG Classic will, of course, also be on-site to answer any questions related to classic and modern classic cars.
